About the Role:
As part of BSP’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive workplace for all employees, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Survivor Support & Advocacy Officer to provide confidential, trauma-informed support to employees experiencing Family and Sexual Violence (FSV). This role ensures survivors receive the care, resources, and advocacy they need while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen support systems and to create a workplace culture that prioritizes safety, confidentiality, and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Survivor Support:
- Conduct empathetic assessments to identify individual needs upon disclosure.
- Provide crisis intervention, trauma recovery guidance, and emotional resilience support and facilitate timely referrals to internal and external support services.
- Advocacy & Case Management:
- Advocate for survivors within workplace systems and external networks, including legal, healthcare, and social services.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure access to workplace accommodations and resources.
- Education & Awareness:
- Deliver training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) / FSV response protocols for staff and stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of empathy, inclusion, and awareness of survivor challenges.
- Documentation & Policy Development:
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with data protection standards.
- Prepare reports on service utilization, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Contribute to policy development and stay updated on best practices in survivor advocacy.
- Logistical & Operational Support:
- Provide operational assistance, including accompanying survivors to critical services.
- Be flexible and available for after-hours support when required.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
- A strong background in survivor advocacy, case management, social work, or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in direct service provision to survivors of trauma, abuse, or violence.
- Experience working with survivors of GBV/FSV and understanding of trauma-informed care.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality, empathy, and discretion.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to support survivors’ urgent needs.
