Senior Credit Analyst

Position Details

About the Role

This role reports directly to the Senior Relationship Manager and is based in Port Moresby. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of business clients within the Bank’s Corporate/Commercial lending segment and develop the business for each relationship, maximizing portfolio and bank’s profitability.

Key Deliverables

  • Ensure that all complex lending applications, ALOC, annual reviews are effectively and efficiently be completed for specific clients.
  • Ensure financial statements are carefully analyzed and processed into Moody’s Financial Analysis Program, which will assist Credit Department in the decision making.
  • Load the ALOC, Moody’s Report, Risk Grade, Financial Statements via Nautilus to Credit Department for approval making sure data integrity is maintained at all times.
  • Complete all temporary overdraft requests and credit modifications for business clients in line with current lending policy.
  • Maintain constant contact with professional Valuers for property valuations, Lands Department for title search and company search in accordance with business laws and bank policy.
  • Process all new and/or increased lending applications, register and prepare documentation in consultation with Lending Support within a reasonable turnaround time.
  • Maintain effective communication with business client concerning loan processes, documentation, for approved loans and establish contact with client lawyers to process settlement in a timely manner.
  • Ensure drawdown of loans new/clients meet increase and/or partial conditions and correct fees, interest rates and repayment schedule are aligned to the lending policy.
  • Assist Lending Assistants to upgrade skill level on the job as part of learning and development process within the business unit.
  • Ensure that clients within the Portfolio are managed effectively in accordance with BSP Service standards in the absence of the Relationship Manager.
  • Provide effective communication through presentations to the Credit Committee/EXCO and other BU where required in the absence of the Relationship Manager and whenever deemed necessary.

What You Bring

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications preferably in Accounting or Business Studies. Excellent communication skills in both oral & written.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Highly developed technical skills in Microsoft Applications (Vision, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Strong technical skills in People Management Processes.
  • Strong understanding of BSP lending Policies & Procedures.
  • Highly developed level of financial analysis & credit assessment skills.
  • Strong understanding of BSP systems and processes.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the economic conditions and the impacts on the organization’s banking environment.
  • Understanding of prudential requirements of the PNG banking environment.
