Project Architect

Position Details

About the Role:

Reporting to the Team Leader Construction, the successful incumbent will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of architectural project designs from inception to completion ensuring to meet client requirements, building codes, sustainability standards, and quality standards, while managing projects, timelines, and budgets.

 

Key Deliverables

  • Plan, manage, and deliver projects by developing and implementing project plans, timelines, and budgets aligned with design objectives.
  • Lead architectural design development, from concept and schematic design through to detailed construction documentation, including finishes and material specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements and milestones are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, zoning regulations, safety standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of design quality, technical accuracy, functionality, sustainability, and aesthetic excellence.
  • Coordinate project execution, resolving issues proactively to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
  • Monitor and control project costs, providing cost-effective and value-driven solutions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Oversee site activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, approved designs, and project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, drawings, and specifications.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control processes to prevent defects.
  • Integrate sustainable and energy-efficient design principles into all projects.
  • Drive innovation and value engineering initiatives to improve outcomes and reduce costs.
  • Manage project close-out and handover, including final inspections, certifications, and completion of all deliverables.

What You Bring:

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • Official accreditation with PNGIA as a Certified or Registered Architect in Papua New Guinea.
  • Diploma in Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in architectural practice, with strong exposure to project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing building and construction projects.
  • Strong architectural design and technical capabilities.
  • Intermediate technical knowledge of contract and project management.
  • Proficiency in relevant architectural, design, and project management tools and technologies.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
