About the Role

Join BSP as the Head of Asset Management, where you will lead our asset management function to new heights. This prestigious role involves overseeing the debt recovery process within the Bank’s Asset Management Unit, ensuring compliance with regulatory provisions, and minimizing both internal and external costs associated with impaired loans as well as operational expenses. Based in Port Moresby, you will report directly to the Group Chief Risk Officer.

Key Deliverables:

  • Oversee and regulate the debt recovery process within the Bank’s Asset Management Unit (AMU) to ensure adherence to established policies and compliance with Bank of Papua New Guinea guidelines.
  • Approve and supervise debt recovery strategies within Asset Management to maximize returns from the debt recovery process.
  • Monitor and manage the debt recovery process within the Bank’s Asset Management Unit to minimize both internal and external costs associated with impaired loans.
  • Oversee and manage the NAL and CWX systems.
  • Implement and control all aspects of Asset Management budgets to ensure recovery targets are met while maintaining direct costs within budgetary limits.
  • Attend and actively participate as a member of the Credit Committee when invited. Execute and manage various tasks as directed by Senior Management.
  • Mentor and support subordinates by conducting regular performance reviews and identifying training and development needs to foster a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to excellence.

What You Bring:

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Risk, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Professional certifications in Compliance, Risk, or Quality Assurance are advantageous.
  • Five to eight years of relevant experience in banking or financial services.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in banking or accounting.
  • Experience in Asset Management.
  • Proficiency in Risk Management, Banking and Finance, and Financial Analysis.
  • Advanced command of the English language.
  • Familiarity with the market business line.
  • Advanced technical skills in Credit Processes.
  • Advanced technical skills in Lending Processes.
  • Advanced technical skills in People Management Processes.
  • Expertise in the statistical analysis of various risks.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the banking business and its associated risks.
