Credit Assurance Manager

Position Details

About the Role

Based in Port Moresby and reports to the Head of Credit Assurance. The successful incumbent will assist to develop, monitor and deliver a risk based Credit Assurance (CA) plan of reviews for businesses and geographies based on risk as determined by research and discussion with key stakeholders (Including Business Unit GM, GCRO and GCCO).

Key Deliverables

  • Prepare reports for tabling to Credit Committee
  • Prepare Board papers and reports for tabling to BRC
  • Ensure all costs are maintained within Budget
  • Achieve the CA plan for the year / half year (allowing for additional ad hoc review requests, and follow up reviews)
  • Scope and undertake CA Reviews as per the Credit Assurance Plan.
  • Complete File Assessments timely and accurately (e.g. File Assessment Worksheets)
  • Material and systemic issues are to be documented in a clear and concise manner for presenting to the business. CA portfolio reports are to be completed promptly following the completion of fieldwork with no errors, and minimal need for rework.
  • CA Methodology is to be strictly adhered too. Any areas of process improvement within CI are to be discussed and developed with Head of Credit Inspection and key stakeholders.
  • Assist Head of Credit Assurance in the peer review process to ensure consistency of issues.
  • The CA Plan is to be continually maintained up to date as to progress with completion of reviews.
  • Outstanding issues and compliance certificates are to be recorded and followed up on a weekly basis.
  • Identify areas of improvement with Business related Policies and process and progress implementation.
  • Conduct all activities in a professional manner, in line with BSP Bank core values and in line with CA methodology.
  • Identifying and provide value adding advise to the business.
  • Coach business staff on the risk areas identified during fieldwork & on completion of the fieldwork.
  • Ensure cohesive team work to enable consistent findings and all targets are achieved.
  • Provide on-site training on items identified during CI and other reviews.
  • Prepare development plans for each subordinate to ensure congruency with Divisional KPI’s
  • Provides frequent coaching and feedback to Senior / Credit Inspection Officers and structures assignments based on developmental growth.
  • Oversees analytics, trending and reporting of testing results to Management.
  • Acts as a resource and subject matter expert for department questions regarding credit risk matters as they relate to credit inspection.

 

What You Bring:

Qualification & Experience

  • University Degree or other tertiary institution, preferably Accounting, Economics, Legal or Finance.
  • Strong management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • A detailed understanding of BSP Online Manual and core BSP lending systems (Flexcube, ICBS, Moody’s Financial Analyst, OBIEE, OWCC and Bizeweb).
  • A thorough understanding of risk, both operational and credit.
  • Strong relationship and negotiation skills while operating in a genuinely collaboratively manner, adapting own style and approach to maximise impact.
  • Makes sound & timely decisions analysing the root cause of a problem to identify the best possible solutions.
  • Works unsupervised and takes full accountability for delivering results while continuously looking for process improvement.
  • Ability to remain objective throughout the Credit Assurance process and has the strength of character to complete reviews in what could be challenging situations.
  • A role model for integrity and upholding BSP Values, while gaining the respect of others.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Strong working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Minimum 7 years professional banking experience with a minimum of 3 years as Relationship Manager Corporate or Commercial or other relevant experience as deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as Credit Officer or Credit Manager in Corporate or Commercial Banking or other relevant experience as deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as Senior Credit Inspection Officer or Manager Credit Inspection.
