NCDC goes online with BSP Pay

After registering for BSP Financial Group Limited’s (BSP) Mobile Merchant payment solution in December 2021, NCDC has again registered for BSP Pay, another innovative non-card based online payment solution which enables BSP customers to pay using their BSP ID and a registered mobile number.

NCDC is a municipal service provider responsible for providing services such as waste collection and disposal, physical and building permits license processing services, public infrastructure and accessibility to public amenities within the city. As part of Port Moresby’s modernisation and transformation, NCDC has taken the initiative to enable seamless and convenient digital access to their respective services for their taxpayers, customers and clients by using available digital solutions provided by services providers like of BSP.

NCDC City Manager Bernard Kipit said, “the challenge was with the accessibility of the service especially given the city’s expansion and the current surge in Covid 19 across the world hence these methods of payment are safe and efficient for those that travel to make payments at the City Hall in Waigani, NCD.”

“Utilising an available software application or system or develop an application to conveniently accommodate customers or taxpayers payments for our services is the way forward for business continuity. The business opportunity is to increase efficiency, revenue and accountability (updated records) at the convenience of both our customers and NCDC with real-time information,” said Mr Kipit.

The current method of payment using cash, cheque and EFTPoS and direct deposits still remains but payees are encouraged to use BSP Mobile Banking and BSP Pay considering Covid-19 in NCD and for their convenience.

Geua Ravu was one of the first customers to pay her Land Tax and Garbage Rates when BSP Pay was launched, “I was able to pay the Land Tax and Garbage Rates for my property on time at the comfort of my busy office to qualify for a 5% discount on my current year land tax and a wheelie bin. The service is very convenient with real-time transaction. It is truly a seamless experience” said Ms Ravu.

NCDC services available on BSP Pay are Land Tax and Garbage Rates, Physical Planning and Building Permit Application fees, new application or renewal application fee for Trade and Liquor Licenses, Dump Fee tickets and Burial Fees.
