BSP supports CPA PNG conference with K50,000
BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP) has again supported the Certified Practicing Accounts (CPA) PNG Annual Conferences this year with a K50, 000 sponsorship. The first of the three conferences successfully concluded today, Thursday 24th June 2021, in Kokopo, East New Britain Province.
BSP Head of Financial Reporting Douna Vaname presented the K50, 000 sponsorship cheque to CPA PNG President Richard Kuna at the BSP Waigani Head Office on Wednesday 16th June, 2021.
Mr Vaname said BSP is proud to be supporting the CPA PNG Annual Conference again this year. “BSP has over 100 Certified Practicing Accountants within the organisation and we are pleased to be part of an event that promotes professional development through such affiliations and conferences.
“BSP has been supporting the event since 1992, and has assisted with over a million kina in sponsorships to date to CPA PNG. We will do so again this year with the three planned CPA PNG’s conferences. The first ended today in Kokopo, the second will be in Lae from 19th to 20th August and the third in Port Moresby from the 18th to 19th November, 2021,” said Mr Vaname.
CPA PNG is committed to training and developing accountants in PNG since 1974. The Annual CPA PNG Conferences see the CPA PNG body meet to develop and enhance a worldwide accountancy standards as a member of the International Federation of Accountants in PNG.
CPA PNG Council Member Thomas Holland thanked BSP for its continuous support over the years. “The experience gained by members and stakeholders from attending the Conferences have been invaluable, and we thank BSP for supporting the event for another year. We are partners in the development of accountancy in PNG. We also acknowledge all the good work BSP has done and continues to do in supporting other areas apart from banking,” Holland said.
Over 12,000 affiliated members have attended the conference in the last five years and CPA PNG membership continues to grow attracting graduates and raising the quality of CPA PNG reputation – 112 of which are BSP employees.
BSP as the biggest financial institution in PNG and the Pacific assists not only the Accounting profession in such events but also other professions such as Human Resources through PNGHRI, Internal Institute of Auditors and various professional bodies.
