BSP makes learning comfortable for Arawa Primary School students
Grade 3 and 4 students of Arawa Primary School will no longer sit on the floor in class thanks to BSP Arawa Branch Team who handed over a refurbished classroom with new desks, making learning comfortable and easy.
This four-week project was delivered on Friday 11th June, 2021, by the BSP Arawa Branch Team as part of its community project initiative.
“Being the only bank in the area, BSP is happy to give back to one of the oldest schools in the area – Arawa Primary School, through our BSP Community Project initiative valued at K30,000,” said BSP Branch Manager Rose Seeto.
Ms Seeto acknowledged the BSP Arawa Branch team led by Project Coordinator Trevor Ruga and the Arawa SDA youths who volunteered on the weekends to paint and refurbish the school. BSP also engaged a local contractor to build the desks.
Arawa Primary School previously known as Bovo International School prior to the Bougainville Crisis was the first to re-open in 1995 after the crisis broke out in 1989. “BSP being the only bank still servicing Arawa town, boosted learning for the students with 50 new desks making learning comfortable for the students and that’s what BSP aims to achieve through our Community Projects – delivering projects that positively impact the lives of people in communities we operate in,” said Ms Seeto.

“Thank you BSP for a wonderful job done. Now our children in Grade 3 and 4 have 50 newly constructed desks in their classroom,” acknowledged Head Teacher of Arawa Primary School Jeremy Taromo, during the handover.
This is not the first time BSP has assisted Arawa Primary School. Back in 2016, BSP Arawa Branch renovated the school hall and installed water tanks.
Since 2012, BSP has invested K215,000 back into Arawa through various Community Projects. Past projects included: Solar Lights installed at Koromiro Technical High school in 2018, donation of mattresses and beds to the Arawa General Hospital in 2013 and installation of water tanks in 2017 and renovation of Wakunai Hospital’s Maternity Ward with new mattresses last year to name a few.
