Position Details
About the Role
This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Senior Manager, IT Communications. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing support for all data and networks in BSP.
Key Deliverables
- Network Infrastructure: Utilise in-depth knowledge of data networking, internet, internetworking, and communications to support BSP Retail and Corporate Network Infrastructure, particularly in the Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) domains, providing 2nd and 3rd-level support.
- Troubleshoot: Apply troubleshooting expertise in routing, switching, VLANs, VoIP, and VPN technologies to implement new or replacement network and communications infrastructure efficiently.
- Secure Network Environments: Provide effective troubleshooting for secure network practices, including the use of VPNs, encryption, and firewalls, to enhance data security and mitigate risks.
- Service Protocols and Communication Standards: Consistently follow established guidelines and procedures to ensure timely, efficient delivery of services to customers and 3rd-level support providers. Maintain regular communication on network issues and updates to keep the business informed.
- Network Documentation: Regularly update and maintain comprehensive network diagrams and technical documentation, ensuring they meet audit standards and are accessible to team members, managers, and stakeholders as needed.
- Organisational Policies: Strictly adhere to company IT policies and standards to minimize risks, control costs, and manage assets as per Finance Asset Management policies. Ensure accurate reporting to Finance and IT when required.
- Efficiently Manage Work Orders: Promptly update and close daily work orders to maintain timely service delivery and support for 3rd-level providers, ensuring quality in all work completed.
- Customer Communication and Project Support: Communicate effectively with customers on resolution updates and provide recommendations for service improvements. Deliver high-quality outcomes on project-related tasks to meet objectives and minimize repeat work.
- Consistently and effectively ensure that escalations processes are followed and utilized at all times to ensure delivery of services are not delayed and maintained and provide support to the team member(s) should there be unavailability of resources for on call duties, delivery of services at customer sites, assistance of 3rd level service providers.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and suggest improvements for internal and external processes to meet organizational goals and objectives.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
- Degree in IT or Computer Science
- Proficient in Data networking and communication technologies Proficient in LAN, MAN & WAN topologies
- Proficient in routing, switching and VLAN technologies Experience in VoIP, VSAT and wireless technologies
- Experience in Network Security, VPNs, Encryption and Firewalls Experience in small – medium network rollout/upgrades
- 3-5 yrs. experience in a senior support role for a medium to large network
