Position Details

About the Role

This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Senior Manager Data Governance. The successful candidate will be responsible to lead the charge in embedding robust data quality practices across our Retail Strategic Business Unit (SBU) focusing on minimizing data risk and enhancing data quality capabilities through the establishment of innovative quality assurance standards with continuous improvement as the driving factor.

Key Deliverables
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and enforce comprehensive data quality policies and standards aligned with BSP’s data governance framework. Ensure consistent application across the enterprise to safeguard data integrity and reliability.
  • Data Quality Metrics: Design, implement, and maintain data quality health scores and metrics, ensuring timely detection and resolution of data issues.
  • Data Tool Management: Serve as the business owner for data quality tools, optimizing their use to automate and streamline data validation processes.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Conduct root cause analyses and engage with cross-functional teams to address data quality challenges effectively.
  • Awareness and Change Management: Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to raise awareness and embed a culture of data excellence through training and change management strategies.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field. Advanced certifications in data quality or governance (e.g., CDP, CDA) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data management, business intelligence, or analytics, with proven expertise in SQL and data analysis.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM), data wrangling, and tools like Collibra or similar.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
