Position Details
About the Role
This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Head of Corporate Banking. The Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major Corporate & Commercial clients, driving business growth, and maximizing profitability through effective relationship management and strategic lending solutions.
Key Deliverables
Portfolio Growth & Business Development
- Identify and develop new Corporate & Commercial opportunities.
- Grow lending and deposit volumes to meet profitability targets.
- Retain and expand key client relationships while protecting significant deposits.
Credit & Risk Management
- Assess, structure, and process high-value lending applications in line with Bank policy.
- Ensure all credit analysis meets high standards in consultation with the Credit Department.
- Monitor client performance trends and proactively manage arrears to mitigate risk.
Client Relationship Management
- Strengthen client relationships through tailored financial solutions.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling new banking products and services.
- Develop and implement targeted sales and marketing strategies for portfolio expansion.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Professional Skills & Competencies
- Strong financial analysis & credit assessment skills – ability to assess complex lending structures and risk exposure.
- Commercial awareness & strategic thinking – ability to align financial solutions with client business needs.
- Negotiation & influencing skills – experience in structuring and closing large corporate transactions.
- Strong communication & presentation skills – ability to engage with C-suite executives, business owners, and key stakeholders.
Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Corporate & Commercial Banking, with a strong understanding of credit, risk management, and business development.
- Proven track record in managing a corporate lending portfolio with deal sizes exceeding K5 million.
