Position Details

About the Role:

This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Head of Technology Reporting & Governance. The successful candidate will be responsible in ensuring that Technology SBU complies with BSP IT policies and contractual obligations as well as adherence to regulatory requirements from external governing bodies.

Key Deliverables:
  • Ensuring the Technology Strategic Business Unit (SBU) complies with regulatory and contractual obligations, including BSP/Technology policies and eligibility requirements for licenses and permits.
  • Maintaining a compliance program to identify and mitigate risks related to IT systems, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Addressing emerging compliance issues by implementing best practices in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives in audit and compliance processes. Collaborating with internal teams and external auditors (PNG & Pacific Markets) to resolve audit findings from annual IT system reviews.
  • Conducting internal pre-assessment reviews to identify gaps in systems and processes and developing mitigation plans.
  • Acting as the primary liaison for compliance and audit-related matters, managing approvals for resolving audit items, and keeping Technology senior management informed of audit progress.
  • Overseeing the team’s compliance, audit, and quality assurance tasks to ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Ensure implementation of Quality assurance controls and conduct scheduled Compliance reviews.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Business, Operations Management or equivalent in experience at the discretion of the Head of Technology Reporting & Governance.
  • GIA Risk & Compliance Management Certification. Strong Computing / IT Industry knowledge.
  • Strong technical knowledge in at least one of:
    • Microsoft Server build, installation, monitoring and support; or
    • Data Networking and communication
    • Business Application design, development, implementation and
  • Critical Thinking, Problem Solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, Leadership and High ethical standards. Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Sound understanding of IT System Compliance management practices/processes as well as the Audit and Risk management processes. Sound working knowledge.
  • Process modelling/mapping and documentation.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an IT technical lead.
