About the Role

We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Port Moresby, reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure Operations. This role requires a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving abilities. Key responsibilities include designing and managing IT infrastructure components, monitoring system performance, collaborating on projects, and assisting with capacity and disaster recovery planning.

Key Deliverables
  • Server Management: Oversee server operations across Papua New Guinea and Pacific Island countries, ensuring optimal performance through monitoring, maintenance, and resource management.
  • Incident Resolution: Quickly address IT Helpdesk incidents and collaborate with service providers to resolve issues during server provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and replacements. Support business projects as needed.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides, ensuring compliance with IT policies and standards.
  • Disaster Recovery: Design and implement disaster recovery plans to support business continuity, focusing on capacity growth, high availability, automatic failover, and effective disaster recovery. Configure and troubleshoot DR software for local and replicated scenarios.
  • Backup Operations: Ensure daily backups of critical systems and data using third-party solutions, and perform periodic test restores to verify backup integrity.
  • Patch Management: Execute effective patch management and lifecycle maintenance, including regular updates and upgrades.
  • Performance Reporting: Monitor outages, provide detailed incident reports, and share weekly and monthly server performance statistics with management.
  • Environment Optimization: Design server environments to meet capacity growth, high availability, and disaster recovery needs. Ensure effective incident management with clear communication throughout the resolution process.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
  • Education: Degree in IT or Computer Science
  • Mentorship: Ability to promote best practices and mentor team members
  • Experience: Similar role in an enterprise environment (5-8 years)
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications
  • Technical Skills:
      • Microsoft Active Directory Services
      • Windows System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
      • Windows Server operations (2019 & 2022)
      • VMware virtualization
      • Microsoft Exchange management
      • HPE Server, Storage, and Compute Infrastructure
      • Veeam Backup services
  • Processes: Experience with ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management
    • 5-8 years of relevant experience
