Position Details

About the Role:

The position is based in Port Moresby and reports directly to the Credit Underwriting Officer. The successful incumbent will conduct full analysis on credit cases submitted by Business Bank customers applying for one of Business Bank lending solutions (Policy/product programs) and prepare their credit packages, follow up on their performance to ensure complying with the relevant credit policy, Bank Policies within the defined turnaround time (TAT).

Key Deliverables:
  • Financial Statement Accuracy checks and receipt of Sales Information Memorandum (SIM) from Sales Manager (Borrowing) for requests within delegated tier of customers.
  • Conduct financial statement spreading and analysis on customer’s financials referred by the Sales Managers to offer them the suitable lending package.
  • Interpret financial data and draw conclusions.
  • Passes customers through Customer Selection Criteria (CSC) to reach customer’s risk grade as per credit program.
  • Identify potential risks or discrepancies in loan application form (SIM), write up (CAM), supporting documents, Offer Letter, security documents etc.
  • Receive loan documentation from Credit Administration Unit and check to ensure approved facilities including all conditions are correctly captured before sending off to the Credit Sales Unit for issuance to customer.
  • Provide case feedback on submitted cases form the Sales Manager (Borrowing) within the defined TAT to maintain customer satisfaction and set service levels.
  • Follows all relevant department policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Follows the day-to-day operations related to own jobs in the Business Bank Credit department to ensure continuity of work.
  • Complies with all relevant BPNG regulations, banking laws, AML regulations and internal BSP policies and code of conduct in order to maintain BSP’s sound legal position and mitigate any potential risks.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and their impact on underwriting processes.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/ Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Oral & Written English.
  • Proficient in General/ Desktop Microsoft Applications.
  • Intermediate Technical Skills in Credit Processes and Risk Management. Intermediate Technical Skills in Policies& Procedures.
  • Intermediate Technical Skills in Compliance/Legislation. Strong Analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with other departments and teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Strong attention to detail.
  • Minimum 2-5 years lending experience in lending to SME/Midcap segment. Credit Certified.
