  • It is a school fee loan for eligible BSP customers within Papua New Guinea.
  • This loan makes back to school easier by offering:

    • Optional additional allowance for school expenses such as uniforms, books, stationery, and transport
  • As a pre-approved customer, you simply need to return your signed Pre-Offer Letter along with your school fee invoice to our dedicarted support team.
  • Your Pre-Offer Letter will be attached to the email sent to your registered email address.

  • The BSP Student Loan requires minimal application documents.
  • As a pre-approved customer, you do not need to submit any Pay Slips or Employment Confirmation Letters to support your application. Terms and Conditions Apply.
  • The minimum amount you can borrow for this loan is K1,250.00(subject to eligibility and amount on school invoice provided).
  • Please be aware, the K1,250.00 amount includes your school fee amount and the one-off K250.00 application fee.
  • The maximum amount you can borrow for this loan is K20,250.00 (subject to eligibility and amount on school invoice provided).

  • A minimum amount of K200.00 up to a maximum amount of K1,000.00 can be included in your Student Loan to cover school related expenses such as uniforms, books, stationery, and transport.
  • No, the Student Loan allows a maximum of K1,000.00 for school expenses. It is not available per student.
  • No, the Student Loan is created to pay school fees directly to the school, with the option to include the school expenses amount.
  • If you want a loan only to cover school related expenses you can apply for a Personal Loan. Terms and Conditions Apply.
  • The Pre-Offer Letter is the first letter you will receive. This letter provides information on the offer and asks you to indicate the amount you need to borrow.
  • The Letter of Offer is the second letter you will receive that confirms the terms of your loan.
  • The low interest rate is fixed at 21.99% per annum.
  • BSP believes that an investment in education is pivotal to enabling a stronger more prosperous country.
  • BSP is committed to supporting the education of future generations of the people in the South Pacific.
  • A one-off K250.00 application fee applies for any amount submitted up to K20,000.00
  • There are no other ongoing account fees for the BSP Student Loan
  • Customers can choose from a minimum term of 6 months up to a maximum of 12 months.
  • Following the completion and submission of your Student Loan Pre-Offer Letter, you will receive your Letter of Offer which will outline the repayment amount.
  • Alternatively, you can view the Loan Repayment Schedule on the customer information pack provided or on the Customer Support Documents section of this dedicated webpage.

  • The standard Student Loan product has the same benefits and features as the one offered to pre-approved customers. The only difference between the two offerings is the application process.
  • Pre-approved customers have already had their eligibility checked by our dedicated Loan Support Officers whereas customers applying for the standard Student Loan online will have their eligibility checked upon application. Terms and Conditions Apply.
  • For this Student Loan you don’t need to visit a branch. Your key documents along with an information pack will be emailed directly to you.
  • There is also supporting information available on a dedicated web page. You will find the link to this page in your customer information pack.
  • Once the loan amount has been approved - payments will be paid directly to the school, as outlined on the school invoice provided by the customer.
  • BSP will provide the school and the customer with a digital copy of the remittance once the payment is made.
  • Refer to the image below for an example of the remittance advice.

  • Payments to schools and personal accounts will be processed within a maximum of 1 business day of submission of all necessary documentation including the signed Loan Offer.
  • Once the loan has been processed, the School Expense portion will be paid directly to your BSP personal account as outlined in your Pre-Offer Letter.
  • If your personal account details have changed from what is shown on your Pre-Offer Letter, please contact the dedicated Loan Support Officers to discuss and update your details.
  • Payments to school and personal accounts will be processed within a maximum of 1 business day of submission of all necessary documentation including the signed Letter of Offer.
  • BSP will email you a remittance advice confirming the agreed amount has been paid directly to your personal account, with a payment reference number for your records.
  • Under the Student Loan product school fees are paid directly to the school. Only the school expenses portion is paid to your personal account.
  • If you wish to have the entire loan balance paid to your personal account, you can apply for a Personal Loan. Terms and Conditions Apply.
  • Both Private and Government schools within Papua New Guinea
  • Levels of education include early learning, primary, secondary and tertiary
  • This Student Loan is currently only available to schools and residents in Papua New Guinea.
  • You will need to discuss this with the school directly.

  • No, currently this offer is only valid for select BSP customers. If you have received a Pre-Offer Letter, this is valid until 29 February 2024 as stated on the letter.
  • If you want to apply for a Student Loan after 29 February 2024, you can contact our dedicated Loan Support Team to discuss:
  • This loan is applicable to more than one student (whether attending the same schools or different schools within Papua New Guinea) but the maximum loan amount remains at K20,250.00
  • If your school fees exceed K20,250.00 you can apply for a Personal Loan. Terms and Conditions Apply.
  • The BSP Student Loan is only applicable for the current academic year (2024) and will only cover the full year’s fees as per your school invoice.
  • PDF, JPG, JPEG and PNG are all acceptable file formats.
  • Yes, you can supply a clear version of the document this will be accepted.
